The Grid Attack You Never Knew Happened

     I've been waiting for more reports to come out on this incident, but everything is quiet on the news front.  Did you know that on April 16, 2013 six men launched an attack on a critical power station in California?  Apparently, someone accessed an underground vault housing fiber optic telephone cables and cut off communications to a large Pacific Gas & Electric Company substation outside San Jose, California.  Then, for 19 minutes, someone opened fire from long-range, with the attack consisting of hundreds of AK-47 rounds being unleashed on 17 large transformers.
      None of the transformers exploded, but the damage was significant enough for PG&E to force their electricity feeds to reroute through another station in an effort to prevent a widespread blackout.

As you might expect, it was first written off as "vandalism".  Now, whether that was a blatant attempt at subterfuge, or law enforcement officials were fooled that easily, has not been established.  But according to SHTFPlan and Newsmax, the shell casings found at the scene had been wiped clean of fingerprints.
     Flash forward ten months, and we now have a Wall Street Journal article, in which Jon Wellinghoff, then-chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), termed the almost hour-long attack on the facility, "the most significant incident of domestic terrorism involving the grid that has ever occurred."  He goes on to say that he believes the episode might be a dress rehearsal for a bigger attack.
      Now don't you think that the American public should be made aware of this, whether it was "vandalism" or a full-blown terror attack?  Don't you think we should know just how vulnerable our grid system is?  Oh, that's not necessary, THEY will tell you; the FBI is "sifting through evidence" and they aren't concerned about a terror attack.  So, Mr. and Mrs. John Q Public, just go back to your normalcy bias.  We'll take care of everything.
     But wait a minute, didn't the WSJ report that it looked more like the handiwork of professionals who had done advance preparation and reconnaissance?  And didn't it take 27 days to repair the damage and bring the substation back on line?  Considering the fact that there are about 2,000 massive, custom-built transformers around the country; and that they are pricy and hard to replace --- couldn't a highly coordinated attack on even a small number of these transformers result in prolonged outages, and a major disruption in our economy and lives?  A couple of days are manageable, but if the right equipment were to be targeted then it’s possible that repairs would take up to 18 months because many transformer components are sourced from foreign nations and have long build times.
     As if cyber-attacks are not enough to bring down the grid(s), we now know that our energy facilities are easily penetrable!  And it should not be surprising when you hear the response from one of the local PG&E spokesmen:  “[Vandalism] is how we typically categorize incidents where other people damage our facilities."  So they let it go at that!  Confident that we're protected, now, aren't you?
     Fortunately, although considerably late in following up, then-FERC Chairman Wellinghoff heard about the attack on the substation and he flew to Silicon Valley to assess the situation, not just with energy grid experts, but with criminal experts, namely personnel from the U.S. Navy’s Dahlgren Surface Warfare Center in Virginia, which trains Navy SEALs.  After walking the site with PG&E officials and FBI agents, Mr. Wellinghoff said, the military experts told him it looked like a professional job. “They said it was a targeting package just like they would put together for an attack,” Mr. Wellinghoff said.

     So what's happened since then?  Well, just a couple months ago, in December, The Blaze reported that Dr. Peter Vincent Pry, who served on the Congressional Electromagnetic Pulse Commission which was charged with studying all EMP threats that could threaten the American way of life, said calling the California event a “dry run” is accurate.  “In military and terrorist operational planning, an exercise or dry run deliberately stops short of destroying the target or achieving the maximum outcome because you do not want to alert the adversary,” Pry said. “You want the victim to remain vulnerable to a surprise all-out attack, most likely a much larger and more ambitious attack.”
     The response from PG&E was anemic, at best.  They will improve their security by deploying advanced camera systems, enhanced lighting and additional alarms at the substation in San Jose that was attacked, as well as others.  Of course, the utility is considering a rate increase to pay for the security enhancements.
      Yet, with all this circumspection, are we likely to see any shoring up of our national electric grid system?  Don't hold your breath!  The fact is that our infrastructure is outdated and exposed. It will not be repaired any time soon because the costs run into the hundreds of billions of dollars.  (And we have wars to run, farms to subsidize, welfare recipients to fund, and health insurance to underwrite).
     But we cannot ignore such warnings as those coming from Jim Woolsey, Former CIA Director, who said that though experts on the threat have been warning of potential terror attacks on the electric grid for years, many people – reporters and users included – just choose to ignore it.  “Without electricity we aren’t a civilization, and this is a major societal vulnerability” Woolsey said.  To show the absolute absurdity of the government's ostrich-like refusal to act on this vulnerability, Woolsey related this opinion:  “So many people lecture me … about how this is not an officially sanctioned threat … (laugh) as if what matters is whether a government bureaucracy has made a finding or not, when somebody steps out next to a transformer farm and blasts away with an AK-47.”  
     So, it comes down to what we've known all along ... the only real option for Americans is to expect that such an event is coming, and to prepare for it.  In light of the event in California, it's time to take this situation seriously.  Frank Gaffney, of the Center for Security Policy, claims that 9 out of 10 Americans would die within a year of the electricity going out.  If nothing else grabs your attention, then this statistic should.  Food supplies, water, medical supplies, and a well-researched preparedness plan are essential NOW.  The enemy has had 10 months to perfect their plan.  They've already shown they can accomplish their goal; can you accomplish yours?

Warships: A First For the Olympics

 

     The ancient Olympic Games have always been shrouded in mystery and legend.  The names of Zeus and Hercules swirl around contests of mythical proportions and tales of sporting events alongside ritual sacrifices performed by pagan cults.  The 2014 Winter Olympic Games have the potential to rival the ancient festivities, as controversy over "White Widow" kill squads and jihadist terrorist groups threaten to overshadow the spirit of the Games.
     Who would have ever thought that the U.S would deploy at least two warships into the Black Sea off the coast of Sochi, Russia, in anticipation of potential terror attacks against the Olympics?  According to a Washington Times article, Don Borelli, a former member of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, said the terrorist threat in Sochi, Russia, is unique because officials already know terrorists are planning an attack in Sochi sometime during the Olympics.  There is not just a possibility of an attack, but near certainty.  Terrorist organizations don't usually name the exact event or a specific time, but now they have dared security officials from around the world to stop them.
     Which brings us back to the reason that the United States and the State Department feel it is necessary to take the unprecedented step of positioning warships off the coast of Russia.  The ships will have helicopters that could assist in evacuations and fly Americans out of the country if needed.  There are also aircraft on standby in Germany that could be at Sochi in about two hours, if additional backup is necessary.  (I mean no disrespect to our Olympic athletes, but I wish we had seen this kind of enthusiasm about extracting Americans that fateful night in Benghazi).
     Between the flurry of activity and the purportedly reliable information from a variety of sources, there is reason enough to think that officials are expecting the worst.  All this heightened preparation is because of a video that was released online Sunday.  CNN reports that the video promised a “present” for tourists at the Olympics as revenge for Muslims killed around the world.  Lending credence to this report is the fact that the two young men who appear in the filmed threat are believed to be the suicide bombers responsible for two attacks in the Russian city of Volgograd last month.  Add to this, the report that Russian officials are searching for a terrorist they believe may already be in Sochi. The woman is being called the “Black Widow” or "White Widow", depending on which report you are reading.
     Ruzanna Ibragimova, the 22-year-old widow of a terrorist killed during the Moscow theatre attack, is believed to have travelled from Dagestan to Sochi on or around January 11th.  Fox News sources report that she is a known member of a Chechen jihadist group, and was recently spotted on the street outside the foreign ministry near Sochi.  In addition, the Russian security force FSB states: "According to our information Ms. Ibragimova may be used by the ringleaders of illegal armed groups for the organization of terrorist acts in the zone of the 2014 Olympics."   All this has caused US security forces to believe that "this notice is the first sign that terrorists may have managed to penetrate the security cordon." 

     This makes Don Borelli, the former FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force member, issue this warning:  “If somebody is already on the inside, if she already has a job at a particular event or special access, she’s already bypassed one of those layers of security.  I would imagine it’s not just her. There are probably lots of people on the radar that the Russians are looking for.”
     And all with good cause.  Doku Umarov, the jihadist leader who has been described as Russia’s Osama Bin Laden, has called for attacks and to stop Russia from hosting the Games.  Of course, President Vladimir Putin has assured visitors to Sochi that they would be safe.  Russia has deployed 40,000 police and security personnel in a 'ring of steel' around Sochi to deter attacks by Islamist militants from the nearby North Caucasus republics.  But the recent attacks in Volgograd and the sighting of a jihadist widow near Sochi is enough to realize there are no guarantees of safety for anyone attending the Games.
     The Olympic Games have always had their share of controversies, adversities; and in the case of the Munich Games, tragedy.  Let us pray that the only thing in history that  the 2014 Winter Olympics will be remembered for is the excellence of the competition.  The modern Games have had to adapt to a variety of economic, political, and technological advancements.  It's a sign of the Times that terrorism has become one of the challengers in the arena of international competition.

This Is What Journalism Is Meant To Be!

     I never thought I would say it, but I have to give proper accolades to the CBS News program, 60 Minutes.  This show is usually just another mouthpiece for whatever the "powers to be" want disseminated.  But Sunday evening, reporter Lara Logan delivered the first of what I hope will be a torrent of information on the Benghazi debacle.
     Ms. Logan is a South African television and radio journalist, and war correspondent. She is the chief foreign affairs correspondent for CBS News, and an occasional correspondent for 60 Minutes.  And she is fast becoming known for her character and unwillingness to back down from a story.  In other words, she has journalistic integrity; something that, in my opinion, is missing from a large segment of journalists.
     In late January 2007, Logan filed a report of fighting along Haifa Street in Baghdad, but the CBS Evening News did not run the report; deeming it "a bit strong". To reverse the decision, Logan enlisted public support; requesting them to watch the story and pass the link to as many of their friends and acquaintances as possible, saying "It should be seen". Logan later used the Haifa Street material for a 60 Minutes' report on Baghdad during the surge.  She is also known for speaking out on the prevalence of sexual assault in Egypt, and the sexual violence women reporters are reluctant to report in case it prevents them from doing their jobs.  She, herself, was the victim of sexual assault while covering the Egyptian Revolution.  Now she has turned her attention to Benghazi.

     On Sunday night, her segment of the news program delivered a powerful blow to the ridiculous Administration rendition of the Benghazi events on the night of September 11th, 2012; the version of the story that was propagated by the White House Press Secretary, the U.S. National Security Advisor, the Secretary of State, and even the President himself at a U.N. appearance.  In one fifteen-minute presentation, Lara Logan shattered the pretense that a video incited a rabble of random protestors into a murderous mob that killed our Ambassador and three others.  She helped the truth to finally emerge.
     We heard from a British military defense contractor, who realized from the start of his assignment that the Libyan security forces were inadequate and would not stand and fight to defend the Americans.  He was on the ground that night, and actually talked by phone to one of the personnel in Ambassador Stevens' compound --- during the attack!  He raced to the compound to find it ablaze, and then snuck in to the hospital to try to find the Ambassador.  He saw him lying dead in a room.
    Green Beret Commander, Lt. Col. Andy Wood, recounted his numerous dispatches to the State Department and Department of Defense, warning them an attack was imminent.  They had the information from Al Qaeda internet warnings that the Red Cross, the British Consulate and the American compound would be attacked.  This information was passed on up the line to the highest offices of our government.  When the terrorist organization made good on the first two of their targets, it was only a matter of time before they came for the third; the Americans.  Warnings that security was inadequate came from all those involved-- the British military contractor, Lt. Col. Woods and even the Ambassador himself.  The message was clear:  they were being targeted.  All such warnings were ignored.
     Lt. Col Wood went on to say that there is no doubt this was a well-coordinated and staged attack.  The accuracy with which the mortar rounds that killed Navy Seals Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods were launched was equivalent to "getting a basketball through the hoop, over your shoulder."  When asked what it took to pull off such an attack, he was clear:  "Coordination, planning, training, experience of personnel and practicing those things; they knew what they were doing.  That was a well-executed attack." Kind of dispels the whole lame "Video" scenario spewed by the White House, doesn't it?

     Ms. Logan also interviewed Greg Hicks.  You might remember him from his emotional testimony before Congress on the events surrounding Benghazi.  While the testimony was riveting and very informative, it has resulted in no further investigation, to my knowledge.  That's why I was encouraged by his appearance in Ms. Logan's piece.  If Congress won't do it's job, then perhaps the Media will come to its senses and do what it is supposed to do... give the American people the truth.
     As the brave Deputy Chief of Mission in Tripoli, Libya, Mr. Hicks tried desperately to get military aid to those under attack in Benghazi.  He was actually on the phone with Ambassador Stevens, during the attack, when the line was cut.  "The sound of his voice is indelibly imprinted on my mind.  He sounded frightened."  He didn't flinch when she asked him what his thoughts were about being told no help was coming.  His reply was chilling and direct.  "For the people that go out, and onto the edge to represent our country... we believe that if we get into trouble, they're coming to get us; that our back is covered.  To hear that it's not, is a terrible, terrible experience."
     So now that Lara Logan and CBS News has shined the spotlight on the Benghazi prevarication that is coming from the Administration, perhaps other responsible members of the media will follow suit and the whole truth will emerge.  And we can hope that those who made the decision to lie to the American people will be exposed and held responsible, and the families of those who died while in service to our country will finally receive the truth about the failure to render aid to their loved ones.  This is the first trickle of such truth; may it turn into a flood.  Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Ty Woods deserve nothing less for their sacrifice.

The Mystery Of TWA Flight 800

     Like many of you, I am always intrigued by a good mystery; especially when it involves real-life scenarios.  Such is the case of TWA Flight 800.  As you will recall, TWA 800, a Boeing 747, was a scheduled international passenger flight from New York City to Rome, Italy, with a stopover in Paris, France. At about 8:31 PM, on July 17, 1996, nearly 12 minutes after takeoff from John F. Kennedy International Airport, TWA 800 exploded and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean near East Moriches, New York.  Of the 230 passengers and crew on board, no survivors were found, making TWA 800 the second deadliest aircraft accident in the United States at that time.
     From the beginning, the cause of the crash was swirling in controversy.  But from the first, there were many witnesses to the accident who claimed they had seen a "streak of light" that was usually described as ascending, moving to a point where a large fireball appeared.  As one might suspect, there was intense public interest in these witness reports and much speculation that the reported streak of light was a missile that had struck TWA 800, causing the airplane to explode.
     Combine these on-site witnesses with the testimony of several commercial airline pilots, who being in the vicinity of JFK International Airport, reported that they saw a missile strike the plane.  (I personally have a friend who is a retired airline pilot, whose colleagues were in the air over New York City that day, and corroborate this theory).

   
Now we must take into account that the thought of terrorist attacks was far removed from the American consciousness at this point in our history.  It was 1996, and the bombings of the World Trade Towers was still five years away, and the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 was eight years in the past and took place over foreign soil.  We Americans, if we are nothing else, are quick to forget and slow to ponder.  So it is easy to surmise that we would not want to consider the possibility that a terrorist attack could happen in our homeland.  And let's not forget that we had a Presidential election coming up.  Wouldn't want anything to put a damper on that, would we?
     But at the time, there was enough interest paid to the eyewitness testimony that the FBI initiated a parallel criminal investigation alongside the NTSB's accident investigation.  The search and recovery effort was long and extensive.  Pieces of the airplane wreckage were discovered floating on and beneath the surface of the Atlantic Ocean about 8 miles south of East Moriches, New York.  The main wreckage was found scattered on the ocean floor in an area about 4 miles long by 3 1/2 miles wide.  In the end, over 95% of the airplane wreckage was eventually recovered.  It was then transported by boat to shore and then by truck to leased hangar space at the former Grumman Aircraft facility in Calverton, New York, for storage, examination, and reconstruction.
     It wasn't long before the public began receiving the picture of the crash as formulated by NTSB investigators.  They postulated that residue found on the wreckage indicated that the probable cause of the crash of TWA 800 was an explosion of flammable fuel/air vapors in a fuel tank, most likely from a short-circuit.   Never mind the fact that the FBI viewed test results of the residue as possibly indicative of a criminal act.  And there were the other less-publicized theories of an accidental "friendly fire" missile from the U.S. Navy, a terrorist missile strike or an on-board bomb.
     What is even less known is the theory that TWA 800 was blown up by a bomb intended to disrupt the trial of terrorist Ramzi Yousef, the nephew of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and planner of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.  One of the most significant revelations by Yousef, documented in a series of FBI memos, obtained by author Peter Lance, for his book Cover Up: What the Government Is Still Hiding About the War on Terror, was a threat Yousef had made to put a bomb on a U.S. airliner during his trial so that he would get a mistrial.  And guess what?  The crash of TWA Flight 800 occurred on the eve of the most damning evidence against Yousef being admitted at trial; and the very day after the crash Yousef, who was representing himself in federal court asked the Judge for a mistrial.    Have you ever heard of that connection?
     Ultimately the NTSB was unable to determine the exact source of explosive residues found on the wreckage.  Some of the possibilities considered were contamination from the aircraft's use in 1991 as it transported troops during the Gulf War, or its use in a dog-training explosive detection exercise about one month before the accident.   But when you can't make a definite determination, what is the best way to deflect from your lack of competence?  Why, state what it "was not", of course.  So the final NTSB Report states that with the lack of any other corroborating evidence associated with a high-energy explosion, their investigative team concluded that "the in-flight breakup of TWA flight 800 was not initiated by a bomb or missile strike."
     So now, here we are in 2013, nearly 17 years to the date of this fateful crash.  Last month, six members of the original investigation team, now retired, filed a petition to reopen the probe.  As Fox News has reported, the group is comprised of people who worked for the National Transportation Safety Board, TWA and the Airline Pilots Association, all of whom have since retired. All six say that the evidence shows the plane was brought down by a projectile traveling at a high speed.  They also say there was an active effort within the federal government to make the crash look like an accident despite evidence of an external explosion.
     Hank Hughes, a retired senior accident investigator for NTSB, said probers were not allowed to seek answers once the FBI took over the crime scene. "We just want to see the truth come out," Hughes said. "We don't have hidden agendas. The only thing we are looking for is the truth.  It was either a terrorist attack, that they wanted to ignore, or an accident as a result of a military operation that went wrong."
     Hughes has reportedly been trying for years to get his theory wider attention and says that while it's hard to imagine the government would be capable of such a cover up, he told ABC News, "governments are capable of doing some terrible things."  (Admit it.  you're thinking Benghazi, right?)
     Jim Speer, an accident investigator for the Airline Pilots Association, said “It’s obvious that the truth was not allowed to be pursued.  A majority of people working in that hanger did not feel as if the evidence was being properly handled.”
     So now the question remains ... will we get the truth this time?  Do we have any more evidence that the authorities are interested in seeking the truth?  If you are as fascinated as I am about this mystery, you might want to watch the trailer for a new documentary on TWA Flight 800 and its alleged coverup.  After all, there's nothing like a good mystery is there?

Do You Still Doubt The Global Caliphate?

     You know, I look back over my thoughts of the last year-and-a-half that I've been writing this blog and the issues that I've felt were important to share, and it is amazing how far we've come in our national "transformation".
     Blog posts on food storage, firearms training, and threats to our Constitution seem "old hat" now.  If you haven't sought information on these topics yet, then you are waaay behind the curve.  Because, in case you haven't noticed, the intent to change our American way of life has come out of the shadows and it is much more "in your face".  Whether it is the hijacking of our education system through the Common Core Standards, the intimidation by the IRS of anyone who doesn't agree with the Party in power, or the metamorphosis of our law enforcement system into using military-style tactics --- it's all designed to change the very foundation of this country.  And this realization leads me to a news item that I found not only disturbing, but quite alarming.

     Last week, The Clarion Project reported on the building of a 15-acre, $100 million mega-mosque in Maryland.  Nothing illegal there; we have freedom of religion in this country.  But The Clarion Project, which is a non-profit organization that draws together Middle East experts, scholars, human rights activists and Muslims to promote tolerance and moderation and to challenge extremism, says there is much more to this "Largest and most striking example of Islamic architecture in the western hemisphere."
     Indeed, Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan, who visited the site, warned an audience in attendance that there are groups in America promoting “Islamophobia.”  He branded such potential critics as paranoid bigots.  And to further his "official" statement about the virtues of Islam, he attempted to stage a meeting between the President and the father of one of the Islamists killed while on a Turkish flotilla which was trying to break Israel’s weapons blockade on Gaza.  Alas, he had to settle for John Kerry.
     But behind the scenes there was a more disturbing narrative.  Also in attendance at the media blitz for the mega-Mosque were the leaders of two U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entities.  One of the men is Naeem Baig, the president of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA). A 1991 U.S. Muslim Brotherhood memo lists ICNA as one of “our organizations and the organizations of our friends.” The memo says its “work in America is "a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within.”  Comforting, isn't it?
     The second official from a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity that attended the event was Mohamed Magid, president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). ISNA and several of its components are listed as U.S. Muslim Brotherhood fronts in the same 1991 Brotherhood memo. ISNA was also an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation case, dubbed the largest Islamic terror-funding trial in the history of the U.S.  Federal prosecutors in the case also listed ISNA as a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity.
     I'm sure you are aware that outspoken critics of the Muslim Brotherhood, like Glenn Beck and former UN Ambassador John Bolton, have warned about the desire for the establishment of a global Caliphate, which is an Islamic state led by a supreme religious as well as political leader.  They've been laughed at and mocked by the MSM.  I don't know about you, but the statement above by the ICNA seems to go a long way towards substantiating their claims.
     If you still need convincing, consider this: the Turkish government has been quietly spreading its influence in the U.S., but Erdogan's public invovlement in the building of this center takes Turkey's "outreach" in America out of the realm of the subtle.
     The Clarion Project also recently reported on the growing ties between the Turkish government and Native American tribes. With Congress' help, thousands of Turkish contractors and their families may be flooding into America's heartland and settling in semi-autonomous zones of the Native Americans, well out of the reach of American authorities.  Why would that be, do you think?

     And if you think all this is subtle maneuvering by the Islamists, there is an even more frightening aspect to their influence.  Right here in Texas, there is an investigation into the Cosmos Foundation, a charter school operator founded a decade ago by a group of professors and businessmen from Turkey. The group, currently using the name Harmony Schools, has become the biggest charter operation in the state.  True, its primary mission is educating schoolchildren, and it has carefully garnered a reputation for elevating our failing educational rates in the areas of math, science, and computer technology -- which makes it quite attractive to parents who want their children to be in the top percentile.  But what better way to infiltrate this foreign agenda than through our schools and our children's education?  But the Cosmos Foundation has also forged ongoing relationships with a close-knit network of businesses and organizations run by Turkish immigrants. Some of those founders, as well as school operators, and many of their business suppliers, are followers of Fethullah Gülen.
     This is important to Americans because Turkey’s regression from a secular democracy into an Islamic state may be based on this educational movement that has also taken root in America.  Imam Fethullah Gülen and his Gülen Movement (GM) have had enormous influence in setting the increasingly Islamist agenda in Turkey.  In fact, in Turkey, 75 % of the nation’s two million preparatory school students are enrolled in Gülen institutions. In America, GM runs the largest charter school network in the nation.  When you connect the dots, don't you think all this information is worthy of our scrutiny and our concern?
     And in case you think that the notion of a global caliphate is just more conspiracy poppycock, you should do your research on Turkey.  Turkey has long desired to see itself revived as the mighty Ottoman Empire; and coupled with Erdogan's movement towards making it a strong Islamic state, the global Caliphate could certainly be emerging.  If you're still in doubt, consider this:  In Turkey, college admissions have been changed to favor religious students, the military has been gutted of its secular generals (with one in five generals currently in prison on dubious charges) and women have been routed out of top government jobs. Honor killings in Turkey increased 1,400 percent between 2002 and 2009. Persecution of artists and journalists has become commonplace as opponents are charged with "crimes" like “denigrating Islam” and “denigrating the state.”
     So if you don't think that the construction of this new center in Maryland, which will have five buildings, including a mosque “constructed using sixteenth century Ottoman architecture that can hold 750 worshipers", is a step by Turkey's leader to push his Islamic agenda in America, then perhaps you need to quit being hypnotized by your Iphone and the propaganda machine of the MSM.  Look ... and I mean really look ... at what's going on in this country and around the world.  America is not only in danger of being "transformed", but of being destroyed from within.  I am so glad that I know God is in control, because when I look at where we're headed .....

Are You Buying It?

     Do you ever feel like you're living in a parallel universe?  The evidence is right there before our eyes .... scandals that involve illegal harassment by government agencies; personal freedoms and privacy can no longer be taken for granted; and the overwhelming sense that our leaders are flagrantly lying to us about covert activities.   We've managed to destabilize the Middle East with our ignorant foreign policy and give away our national sovereignty to the UN.  Yet there are those of my fellow Americans who think nothing has changed; we're still rocking along in the "land of opportunity" and believing that the American dream is still alive.

    There are those who have no clue of the threats we face, right here in the homeland.  We are being told that we've won the War on Terror, yet I'm pretty sure that the folks in Boston and London aren't feeling like it's time to celebrate just yet.  In fact, there was a little publicized event right here in Texas over the past few days.
     It seems that an active Hezbollah member had easy access to Fort Sam Houston, where he allegedly failed to disclose his association with the terror group when he applied for a security clearance with the Defense Department (where he was seeking a contracting job).  Wissam Allouche was seen by at least two people at Fort Sam dressed in U.S. military uniform displaying insignias from special forces, in an apparent attempt to fraternize with women soldiers and gain information.  An undercover terrorist unit obtained eight photos from a source showing Allouche during his days with Hezbollah. In them, he's holding assault rifles or rocket propelled grenades, and according to an Army Criminal Investigations agent, was given at least three aliases; one of which meant "god of death".
     But this is the scariest part:  he has lived in the U.S. since 2002, and once owned a local gas station in the suburbs of San Antonio.  I don't want to imply that all Middle Easterners who own businesses in the U.S. have terrorist ties, but I'm also not so naive as to think this is a solitary case.  The War on Terror is over?  Somehow I don't think the end can be implied if only one side declares it.  Just saying it, doesn't make it so!
     Does anyone besides me fear that we are sitting on a ticking time bomb?  No matter how often the Administration says our borders "are safer than they've ever been", I know for a fact that more than impoverished Mexicans looking for a better life are slipping across our borders.  The South Texas border is a virtual war zone; with beheadings, drug cartel murders, and Islamic jihadist literature as evidence of just how much terror still reigns.
     I have had personal conversations with friends and acquaintances who recount their experiences of coming upon unidentified groups of armed men who have shot at innocent citizens, busted through locked gates and terrorized communities.  When calling local law enforcement for help, there have been incidences of blackhawk helicopters swooping in, dispensing with the bad guys, and mopping up the evidence ... no one hears another word about it; and you will certainly never hear it on your national news.
     So while recent polls by Gallup, ABC News and CNN report that one-third of our population thinks everything is OK in the country and that we are "on the right track", I can't help but see the handwriting on the wall.  We know that things are unraveling, both politically and spiritually.  The problems we have in this nation cannot be solved with a Special Prosecutor investigating political scandals, or by appeasing our enemies, or even by solving our economic woes.  And both spiritual and virtual enemies are just waiting for their chance to strike.  All these things are the natural consequences of losing our way.
     I know that we need to return to a reverence for family, faith and personal responsibility.  But I fear that we've allowed our civilization to deteriorate to the point that fewer people recognize the value of these precepts.  And in the meantime Evil has taken hold of the world and we're in the midst of a battle for our very souls.
     I can't escape the universe I live in, but I can damn sure decide to live by my own standards.  I won't be deceived by slick public relations, the culture's latest "must have", or false promises of security.  If that means my world becomes smaller and more selective, then so be it.  I'd rather suffer for staying true to my God-instilled principles, than gain one moment of this world's false hope.

Islamic Jihad in London

     We all watched in horror last week as a radicalized Muslim in Great Britain shouted "Allah Akbar" as he beheaded a British soldier with a meat cleaver.  Not only was this evil act carried out in full view of the public, but the jihadist beckoned bystanders to film it, declaring that he wanted "to start a war in London" because "Muslims are dying every day."
     But what could the defenseless British citizens do?  Long stripped of their gun rights, they could only stand by as the demonic jihadists committed their grisly deed.  And forget about counting on their government; the powers that be neither have the inclination to stop the progression of terrorism, nor allow the citizens to defend themselves.  Indeed, Prime Minister David Cameron adopted the political speak that is being resonated around the world, stating that the murder was “not just an attack on Britain and on the British way of life”, but “also a betrayal of Islam and of the Muslim communities who give so much to our country.”

     Does anyone doubt that this politically correct statement only emboldens the jihadists as they perceive the lack of any sort of firm response?  When will the West admit that we are engaged in a "holy war" of religious ideologies?  So, if David Cameron truly believes it was an attack on the British way of life, what does he propose to do about it?  And of course, the Muslim Council of Britain proclaimed that the attack had "nothing to do with Islam itself", while PC politicians warned against reprisals towards Muslim communities.  Conciliatory verbage was the standard response .... "The act was barbaric and bizarre, but it just didn't make sense."
     Didn't make sense?  I think the cleaver-wielding attacker explained his actions quite well .... He wants to start a war in London!  And never mind that the jihadist claimed to be acting on behalf of "all Muslims".  What's so hard for the Elite of London politics to understand about that statement?
     Instead of facing the reality of what they are dealing with, they insisted that the public "remain calm".  I don't know about you, but if there is a beheading committed in the vicinity of where I live, I would like to see a little more than appeasement and pacification from my government.  But alas, the poor British citizenry have allowed themselves to be suckered into a defenseless position.  They have no weapons with which to defend themselves, and a growing population of extremist Muslims.  Instead of addressing the problem, the British government chooses to placate the Muslim community, while attacking the English Defense League (EDL), which is a human rights organization that was founded in the wake of shocking actions of a small group of Muslim extremists.
     According to FrontPageMag.com, the lesson from this beheading is quite simple and clear:  "With very few exceptions, the British elite are terrified to call jihad by its rightful name. It would rather condemn the English Defence League for the thousandth time than choke out even the most muted, gracefully nuanced acknowledgment that there might, in fact, be something of a causal connection between the instructions to the faithful spelled out in the Koran and the actions carried out in Woolwich, London last Tuesday afternoon. Yet it’s precisely that elite’s dishonest, irresponsible, lily-livered response to abominable transgressions like this one that is driving more and more people into the arms of the EDL.  For while Prime Minister Cameron and company were responding to the Woolwich killing by defending Islam, feigning perplexity, and/or dismissing the idea that this murder had any larger significance, EDL leader Tommy Robinson was speaking the plain and simple truth, accusing the country’s leaders of being “scared to say the word Muslim” and flatly rejecting the fatuous falsehoods about Islam that are proferred in Britain’s classrooms and endlessly reiterated in its media. Said Robinson on Tuesday: “Our next generation are being taught through schools that Islam is a religion of peace. It’s not. It never has been. What you saw today is Islam.”
     I applaud Tommy Robinson for speaking boldly while wondering, at the same time, if we, here in the States, are not headed down the exact same path.  Are we letting the extremists in our country become emboldened by our fears of offending someone?  Did we not learn anything from the Boston Marathon bombing?
     We must be careful not to condemn indiscriminately, yet we must have the courage to identify the threat when it is revealed.  And I think we can agree the threat in London was made boldly and effectively; leaving no room for doubt as to the intentions or ideology behind the murder.  I have no trouble interpreting the meaning behind "Allah Akbar" and a severed head.  Do you?  It's my hope that we, in the United States, won't have to learn the same lesson that the innocent Londoners witnessed last week.   God, please protect us!

How Do They Sleep At Night

   

     I tried to feel sorry for White House Press Spokesman, Jay Carney, yesterday; I really did.  But the weak attempt to cover up the lies of this Administration just made me yell at the television.  Although the MSM has now decided they can no longer deny the deception in the Benghazi scandal, I still felt as though they didn't pursue the truth hard enough.
     You know what?  I'm tired of the lies, and I'm tired of the politicization of issues that effect our freedoms and the transformation of America.  How stupid do they think we are?  And "they" includes everyone in the political arena.  For the moment, it looks as if the Republicans are interested in getting some long-awaited answers as to who made the decisions to abandon Americans during an Islamic extremist attack.  Will they persevere until the entire truth is revealed?  Time will tell.
     But the fact is that ABC News is now saying they received twelve different editions of the White House talking points, with the final version eradicating all references to jihad, Islamic extremists, terrorism, and Al Queda.  (For a hard-hitting exposé, read this article.)  Ultimately, the White House spokesman stuck to his lie that "only one stylistic change" was made; the word consulate changed to mission.  Take a look at the following comparison of talking points issued by the White House, and make up your own mind.

     As if this is not enough, Carney again threw the CIA under the bus, stating that they were responsible for the talking points.  He kept trying to stress that it was "an interagency process to develop the information about what we knew."  I think the most ridiculous excuse Carney came up with was that the Administration "could not know the relevancy of the warnings" coming from the American embassy in Tripoli.  I have a very simple question, Mr. Carney .... why didn't the Administration rely on the intel on the ground?  Gregory Hicks, the Acting Deputy Chief of Mission, told Secretary of State Clinton directly that they were under attack that very night!  There is no way around it--they knew that night that our mission in Benghazi was under attack and they chose not to rescue those men.  The American people want to know WHO made the changes and WHY.   Perhaps even more importantly, the families of those who were sacrificed deserve the truth.
     Stop blaming the Republicans, a misguided ad by Mitt Romney, and, yes, even George W. Bush's administration (they're still playing that card!)  Fess up and take responsibility for your poor judgment!  Stop trying to blame others and be accountable!  Repeating the same lies over and over again, doesn't make them true.  And just because you offer a half-truth today, doesn't erase the fact that you lied to us nearly eight months ago.  And just because you decided to hold your press conference on a Friday afternoon, to try to limit the damage, we will not let this scandal be so easily dismissed.  Your actions are incompatible with the character of our nation, and we have been betrayed.

Uncovering the Benghazi Lies

     I spent a good part of the afternoon yesterday watching the live coverage of the hearings on the Benghazi, Libya "Consultate" attack.  The first thing I would like to express is my surprise that none of the MSM covered the hearings before the House Committee on Oversight and Reform.  Actually, I need to rephrase that observation .... CNN did start to televise it, but as soon as it became evident that the Deputy Chief of Mission, Gregory Hicks, was going to tell the truth, the coverage was yanked.

     I sat mesmerized as the so-called "whistle-blowers of Benghazi" gave their emotional testimony.  Greg Hicks is a 22-year veteran of the Foreign Service, so I believe his testimony comes with considerable credibility.  And it was apparent from the start that the events of that night had absolutely nothing to do with a video, as proclaimed by the highest levels of our government.
     Hicks, who became the Acting Chief of Mission after Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed, gave a blow-by-blow account of the attack, which can be summarized by the following timeline:
1)  The evening began with the attack on the U.S. Mission.  A response team of six men came from the Annex and drove back up to 60 attackers.  At this time, they found Information Management Officer Sean Smith's body.  The body of Ambassador Stevens was not recovered.  At this time, a second wave of attacks came, so the security personnel evacuated to the Annex.
2)  There is approximately 1.5 hours of probing attacks against the Annex.  A response team from the American Embassy in Tripoli makes a rescue mission to pick up the injured.  A second response team prepares to leave for Benghazi, waiting for the command to allow military personnel to go to the aid of those still at the Annex.  They are asking, "Is anybody coming to help?"  Hicks is told that the closest air power is at Aviano Air Base in northeastern Italy, a 2-3 hour flight, but that there were no tankers to refuel them.
3)  The Embassy in Tripoli then receives the news that Ambassador Stevens' body had been recovered and taken to a hospital that was controlled by the attackers.  Twitter feeds soon reveal that Ansar al Sharia Brigade, an Islamist terror group, is claiming responsibility for the attacks.  Further feeds show that the Embassy in Tripoli is soon going to be under attack, as well.

4)  Throughout the night, Hicks is in contact with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and briefs her on the situation with Ambassador Stevens and what is going on in Tripoli.  At 3 a.m. he receives the call from the Libyan Ambassador that Chris Stevens is dead.  Hicks calls D.C. with a request to accelerate the evacuation of the Annex compound.  In the meantime, the Embassy in Tripoli is evacuated, with Hicks commending his team for their "amazing strength and courage".  He told a riveting tale of dismantling their communication system and of computers being smashed.  After moving to the Embassy annex at dawn, word came of mortar attacks on the Embassy.
5)  Meanwhile back at Benghazi, the response team was waiting at the airport for a Libyan escort to recover the body of Ambassador Stevens.  But since the hospital was controlled by Ansar al Sharia, Hicks didn't want to send the response team into an ambush, so they sent them to the annex instead. Shortly after that, more mortars came at the annex.  Some fell short, landing among the Libyans who were escorting them.  The next mortar rounds landed on the roof, killing Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty.  Team members climbed onto the roof to recover their bodies.
6)  The military response team, which included four highly trained special forces personnel is left in Tripoli, after being told to stand down; they were not authorized to go to the defense of our personnel in Benghazi.  Both Hicks and the leader of the response team, Lt. Col. Gibson are furious, but Hicks does not have the authority to send the team.
     That is a cursory timeline of the events of September 11, 2012, but I think you get the idea.  Just hours after our Ambassador and three others are killed, the President of Libya announces that it's a terror attack with possible terrorist group links.  There goes the Youtube video argument!  In fact, Gregory Hicks repeats Ambassador Stevens's frantic call to him, "Greg, We are under attack!"  Not, "Greg there is a demonstration outside the Mission with people carrying signs about a Youtube video."
     So when asked what his reaction was when U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice made the rounds of the Sunday talk shows and declared that it was, indeed, a video that resulted in these four American deaths, Hicks responds, "I was stunned.  My jaw dropped and I was embarrassed by her remarks."  In case, you have any doubts about her remarks, you need to realize that Hicks was the highest ranking official in Libya at the time, yet Rice did not talk to him before going on the talk shows.
     The bottom line is that her remarks, which became the official narrative of the Administration, directly contradicted the facts on the ground; directly contradicted the President of Libya; and directly contradicted the last statement by Ambassador Stevens.
     But Hicks wasn't the only one who responded negatively to the erroneous claim.  The President of Libya was angry, insulted, and suffered reduced credibility in front of his own people.  It is the feeling of Greg Hicks, that Ambassador Rice's comments directly resulted in an eighteen-day delay in getting the FBI in to begin their investigation.

     As the hearings continue, it becomes clear that the Democratic Congressmen are only interested in casting a partisan shadow on the testimony, with Congressman Steven Horsford of Nevada going so far as to use his five minutes of questioning to lay the blame at the feet of the Republicans and their proposed budget cuts.  While the Republican Congressmen are more pointed and direct in their questioning, with both Trey Gowdy and Jason Chaffetz asking direct and sharp questions, I am left wondering if anyone will be held accountable and responsible.
     It is apparent from the first-hand testimony that everyone involved on the ground knew it was a terrorist attack from the first moments, and that there has been a blatant attempt on the part of this Administration to mislead the American people.  But unless we make the links, connect the dots, and name names, then what will actually be accomplished.  Who gave the orders to stand down?  We know that Susan Rice lied, but who told her to?  How is it possible that the President of the United States is able to make a speech days later at the United Nations, where he still blames a weak video?
     I would like to remain hopeful that these hearings will result in the truth.  Someone needs to answer for the decisions made, and the lies told.  The American people deserve accountability from our government, and the families of the dead deserve some answers.  Unfortunately, I'm not confident that our political system even remembers how to tell the truth anymore.  If this goes nowhere, the American people are truly defenseless against a media and government who are only interested in their self-preservation.  God help us!

Why Keep Asking "Why"? ... Or At Least Ask the RIGHT Questions!

     Boy, I don't even know where to start today!  In the aftermath of the arrest of the surviving Tsarnaev brother, my mind is racing in so many directions; and with no concrete answers!  I guess I first want to address the incessant and idiotic (at least to me) questioning by the MSM as to what could possibly have made these two young men take part in such a heinous act?  Let's put all of our political correctness aside once and for all, can we?  It's time to quit hiding behind "tolerance" and say it loud and clear.  No more being afraid to offend someone; the reason these two brothers carried out this bombing is .... RADICAL ISLAM!  There .... I've said it.  We shouldn't be apologizing when the facts are right before us.
     All the wishing and hoping by the Progressive Left could not make their dreams come true.  There was no way they could make the culprits redneck, Tea Party, or white right-wing extremists.  Not that they didn't try to convince their sheeple that it was so.  But it is time that the American people realize that the agenda of our government has been to lead us away from what we've instinctively known all along .... there is a war going on between two radically different ideologies.  The religion of Islam has been hijacked by fundamentalist extremists who have declared jihad on Christianity and Judaism; it is their goal to kill and destroy us "infidels".  We have been lulled into a false sense of security by leaders who have not only placated this ideology, but supported it in clandestine ways.  And now the facade is falling apart.
     Because, you see, this latest "terror attack" has uncovered more questions than it has answers for.  And I reminded PLW of a spiritual axiom that popped into my head this morning.  You have heard me say that this whole "internet age" and new technology has been an instrument of Satan (pornography; introducing the occult to our children through Dungeons and Dragons and the like; and desensitizing our youth through violent video games --- just for starters).  But the Holy Spirit reminded me this morning that what the Devil means for evil, God can use for His own good purposes.  And I believe we are seeing that in the wake of the Boston bombings.
     For you see, the technology that is available through cell phone cameras means that the public can catch our authorities in lies and misconceptions.  The "official" story is now harder to substantiate when there is more conclusive evidence that shows a different narrative.  So at this stage of the "story" there are actually more questions than our various branches of the government and national security departments ever anticipated being asked.
     I am trying not to get caught up any way-out conspiratorial theories, but there are some legitimate questions that have been raised by multiple sources and agencies that, at this early stage in the investigation, deserve at least a cursory consideration.  So let me just throw some of these out there and let's see where the next weeks and months take us.  Here are just a few questions and thoughts swirling around in my head:

•  Why have we not heard anything more about the initial suspect in the attacks (the Saudi National who was hospitalized)?
•  Did you know that he is allegedly here in the States on a Student Visa and is supposed to be a student attending school in Findley, Ohio?  So what was he doing living in an apartment in Boston?
•  Did you know that he allegedly attended the same Muslim Brotherhood mosque as the Tsarnaev brothers?
•  Did you know that on January 14, 2013, our president met with the Saudi Minister of the Interior, and two days later, Janet Napolitano signed an agreement with this same Minister giving Saudi Nationals "Trusted Travelers" Status?  Did you know that this status is only shared by citizens of Canada and Mexico; that not even our "trusted" allies in Germany or France share this status?  Israel is still waiting to receive this important status!  Did you know that with this status, if Saudi Nationals come into our country on Student Visas, that it doesn't even show up?  They are virtually incognito?
•  What is all the confusion about this Saudi student's deportation?  Does it have anything to do with the 140 Saudi's that were flown out of the U.S. shortly after September 11, 2001?  What are the real connections between our government and the Saudi government?
•  What about the rumors that the Tsarnaev brothers (at least the older one) were actually double agents that were supposed to infiltrate the extremist Chechyan movement, but then became radicalized themselves? (Read Israel's DebkaFile report for more on this theory).  Is Russia "the foreign government" who allegedly alerted the U.S. about the older brother's trip to Russia?  And why did the FBI not continue to observe him?
     There are too many rabbit holes to go down, with no clear answers.  And we may never know the real truth.  Is there a slight chance that the parents could be on to something when they declare that their sons were "set up"?  Even the circumstances of the older brother's death have changed.  Did he have a suicide vest on, or didn't he?  Who actually ran over him?  The younger brother supposedly tried to self-inflict a gunshot wound to his head, resulting in his inability to speak.  Yet new sources say there was no gun found on his person when he was arrested.  There are too many inconsistencies!

     Then we can go a whole different direction and take a look at the civil liberties issue.  Why were no Miranda Rights read to the youngest brother?  Why was an entire section of Boston shut down; people subjected to warrantless home searches; armored vehicles in the streets? .... yet the suspect was found outside that perimeter?  Are precedents being set for Martial Law?  According to the website, SHTFPlan, under the Patriot Act and the National Defense Authorization Act, anyone deemed to be acting in a manner that seeks to subvert the laws of the United States can be declared a terrorist... hence no Miranda rights are necessary.  That will be convenient if we ever have "real" Americans involved in a terror plot, won't it?
     Then there are the really crazy effects of this whole tragedy ... I actually heard someone call in to a talk radio program and suggest that these poor boys were a product of "bullying" by arrogant and unsympathetic Americans!  That's right, blame it on us Americans again.  And then there is New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg who just can't "let a good crisis go to waste" and decides that this is the perfect time to introduce legislation that would restrict the use of gunpowder in order to "reduce terrorism".  Can't forget the gun control agenda, now can we?
     Finally, there is the enlightening article on WorldNetDaily.com that "Americans are 'snapping' by the millions."  Apparently we are suffering chronic debilitating stress, our suicide rates are up, and we are depressed beyond comprehension.  The article goes on to tell us that all this is part of the plan.  Just reading a few pages into Saul Alinsky’s notorious “Rules for Radicals,” one encounters repeated confirmation that the very key to radical “change” is keeping the populace angry, encouraging their grievances, stoking their resentments and making sure they are continually upset.  So just how does this latest tragedy feed into that strategy and how much is manufactured to accomplish this goal?
     As you can see, I have asked lots of questions and have no real answers.  But I guess my whole point to this post is that we MUST ask the questions!  No more acceptance of the picture "presented" to us; we must seek our own truth and rely on our own instincts; always being vigilant to preserve our rights and our God-given liberties.  It will be interesting to see how far the tentacles of Evil reach, and if the American people can hang on to the freedoms that are slipping away.  God be with us!

Tragedy in Boston

   

      I hesitate to even comment on the tragedy that occurred at the Boston Marathon yesterday.  Two explosions resulted in multiple deaths and horrific injuries to bystanders.  It should go without saying, that I am praying for those who lost their lives, and for those who whose lives have forever been changed from yesterday's event.  This post will be short because I do not want to give erroneous information or false details.  At this time, I just want to give you my impression of the initial coverage.
     As always happens, news sources are sometimes quick to jump to conclusions in their rush to be the first with the exclusive news.  And this is what was disturbing to me.  I am writing this just three hours after the detonation of the blasts.  The New York Post has reported that a Saudi national is being held as "a person of interest" at a local hospital.  Nothing further is known as I type these few words.
     Yet within one hour of the blasts, Shepperd Smith at Fox News reported that a suspect was in custody.  He then went on to question whether this could be a "local domestic cell" in the image of Oklahoma City or Waco.  Really?  Is the MSM, (in which I include Fox News) that eager to blame domestic terrorists, without a shred of evidence?  He even went so far as to point out it was "Patriot's Day" in Boston and perhaps this terrorist had an axe to grind.  He stopped just short of mentioning the Tea Party.
     Then there was Chris Matthews on CNN's Hardball:  "Normally, domestic terrorists, people tend to be on the far right, well that’s not a good category, just extremists, let’s call them that."  He, too, is willing (perhaps even wanting) to consider that this heinous act was perpetrated by an American citizen that doesn't share his political ideology.  I just find it maddening that he never seems to consider that these monsters could be someone other than an American conservative that hates our country.
     There were witnesses who had served in Iraq and mentioned the distinct smell of cordite, the evidence of ball-bearings, and lower extremity wounds; all consistent with IEDs.  It is too early to pinpoint a specific suspect, and we may yet find out that the perpetrators are Americans or local terrorists.  And whoever is responsible should receive justice and punishment to the fullest extent of the law.  I am just disheartened that the first light of suspicion was so eagerly shone on "domestic terrorists."  I am getting tired of so-called journalists airing their opinions and emotions, instead of reporting facts.  I don't care to hear Shepperd Smith or Chris Matthews spew their personal hunches or theories.  Their job is to tell us what is happening.  If they don't know, then their job is to say that --- not offer up their delusional fantasies.
     All this being said, it is a reminder to us all that our homeland will never be safe from terror events such as what we witnessed in Boston.  It is our present reality that Evil abounds and we are all possible victims and quite vulnerable.  Yet we also observed great courage and compassion in the midst of this demonic plot.  Strangers provided assistance to the injured, and officials acted quickly to shut down cell phone service to inhibit any further detonations.  Medical personnel were quick to respond and police were able to gain control over the terrified spectators and escort them to safety.  The worst of Satan's plans cannot defeat the goodness that resides in humanity.  The days to come will provide more answers.  In the meantime, let's pray that God's mercy will reign on this country.
