The Meaning of Christmas

Isaiah 9:6    "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

"The Holy Night" - 1867
By Carl Heinrich Bloch

Isaiah, a prophet of the Old Testament, foresaw the miracle of Christ's birth, some 700+ years before the Star in the East guided the Wise Men to the manger.  The Hebrew Scriptures and our New Testament gospels agree on the events of this Holy Night.  They foretell of a time in the future when all the earth will be subject to the government of the Prince of Peace.  It is something the souls of men have longed for over thousands of years.  It is amazing to me, that men of this age are so arrogant as to doubt the existence of a Mighty God, an Everlasting Father who has given His authority to his Son, Jesus Christ, to rule the world.  It is my prayer that the world will come to know Him, and allow Him to rule in their hearts.  On this Christmas Day, in the words of one of my favorite Christmas hymns, "let the weary world rejoice", and your soul feel its worth.
And now, nearly 3,000 years after the prophecy of Isaiah, I want to share with you a special message from the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu.  It is the same message that has been spoken by Jews and Christians for centuries, and it is a message of hope.  Listen to his words and contemplate what it would be like to live in a world where there was truly "peace on earth, and goodwill toward men."

Merry Christmas!
