The buzz around the proverbial water cooler this week has been the warning to prepare for 90 days of some kind of "emergency crisis"; with the suggestion to stockpile food, water, and survival essentials in no uncertain terms. And it's not just a revival of the "Prepper mindset" we saw sweep the country a few years ago. Countries around the world are warning their citizens in the same kind of language. Government officials in the UK, Germany, France, Japan, and Sweden [among others] are telling their citizens to get ready for major disruptions.
A site called Open Minded Approach reports on some of the details: the UK is telling its citizens to store 3 days of water, food, torch, radio and cash. The EU is calling for 72 hours of supplies for every citizen. Germany says to prepare for 10 days. There are public bunkers for less than 1% of the people. And every 18-year-old man now gets a military questionnaire. France has produced a 20-page survival guide. In Sweden 5 million homes are receiving the booklet, "If Crisis or War Comes". So, it's pretty obvious that Europe is bracing for war.
But it's not just Europe that is sounding the trumpets of war. Japan's Disaster Management Minister will be issuing a national "emergency request" on Monday, November 2nd, urging all households in the country to stockpile essential survival supplies for at least three days, with a week being highly recommended. Here, in the US, our citizens have heard that Project FORTRESS has been initiated. According to internet searches, this is a Department of Defense Initiative that is a strategic mandate requiring roughly 500 major US military bases to be prepared to operate independently for 90 days without civilian power, fuel, water, or supply chains during a conflict. The plan stands for Federal Operations for Resilience, Troop Resources, Energy, Supply, and Survivability. It focuses on five pillars: energy independence, supply chain resilience, strategic reserves, installation hardening, and space/spectrum resilience. It involves deploying portable nuclear reactors, microgrids, and domestic industrial readiness to ensure bases remain "lit" and operational if civilian infrastructure is compromised.
First of all, this sounds like the military is expecting major disruption and instability in our country, and expecting it in the very near future. Secondly, I'm glad to hear that plans are in place, and that the scope is broad, aimed at ensuring that our American forces can continue fighting even if the civilian systems they depend on are disrupted. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell told Fox News Digital, "We don't want to rely on standard civilian municipal infrastructure to run our national defense. We just simply can't. It's an intolerable risk".
It's an intolerable risk! And if Mr. Parnell's comment that our "standard civilian municipal infrastructure" is not up to the task of providing the military what it will need in case of ... let's just say it ... war, then what is the implied meaning for the general population? When I look at the five pillars of energy, supply chain, strategic reserves, hardening of installations, and protecting and maintaining communication and operational capabilities against interference, jamming, or cyber threats, I'm thinking what good will 3 days of food, water, and batteries accomplish for us civilians? What are we actually facing? There are a myriad of crises that come to mind ... earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, wildfires, terrorism, cyber attacks, EMPs, and ultimately a world-wide war. And what does it mean that it looks like the whole world is preparing for the same high level of "disturbance"?
And that word intolerable is quite telling. It means unbearable, insufferable, unsupportable, too much to bear. So, if the military thinks our standard civilian infrastructure is less than optimal, what are the chances that we, the normal citizens, get through whatever is coming? And, for me, that necessitates a fervent prayer life. So, I have been in constant conversations with the Lord.
Maybe no one will understand what I'm about to say, but for a while now, I have seen the slow build up towards what the Bible reveals in the Last Days: apostasy and persecution; incredible destruction and false messiahs; and the Battle of Armageddon, the final battle between Good and Evil. To be honest, about 10 years ago, I began to see that the world has been involved in one, long series of wars/conflicts beginning with WWI. That was "the War that was going to end all wars". Instead, just two short decades later (actually 21 years) we were in WWII, and then the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the wars in the Middle East, and it just seems as if Evil is pushing the war train down the track, until we now find the world sitting on a tinderbox, ready to blow us all to smithereens.
As a Christian, I see the spiritual implications of this warning and a clear purpose for the calamitous disruptions that are being hinted at. I know that the world has always been engulfed by sin, perversion, evil, wickedness, and lawlessness. But, I believe this generation is profoundly submerged in a level of depraved and demonic rebellion against the Most High God. Child trafficking and pay-per-view online sexual abuse of children are just a couple of current abominations unto the Lord. Abortion, murder, gender modification, and greed that leads to lust for wealth and power have led us to the brink of moral destruction. My spirit discerns that God is ready to give us over to the desires of our heart. And when our hearts are so sick and wicked that repentance is not an option, I think God decides that judgment is the final recourse.
And if we are truly at that point, I can't say I blame God. We deserve to be judged. After all, where is the fruit of a Godly nation? But those of us who remain steadfast in our faith know that the promises of God are real; Jesus emphasized the importance of perseverance in faith, "But the one who endures to the end will be saved". Jesus has told us we will face trials and persecution. He has told us that events will get worse before His return.
During our conversations in the spirit, I have clearly discerned Him telling me it will be necessary "to endure". The one who endures to the end... that word "endure" in the Greek (Hupomeno) means "to abide under suffering; to bear up courageously", which we would expect during times of great tribulation and persecution. But then there is a separate significance that points to "being patient; to tarry, to wait for". And that has great relevance to me personally.
Seventeen years ago, I met a man of prophecy, who told me that God wanted me "to be the pen and not the blank piece of paper". In other words, that He had created me to write, and I was to do it because it pleased Him to see me doing what I was created to do. So, for the last 15 years I have written this blog (and a couple of books) to glorify my Creator and Lord. This man also gave me a verse of Scripture that God intended me to keep as a personal reminder from Him. It is Isaiah 40:31 ... but they who wait [endure] for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not grow faint.
I don't know what this 90-day warning means or involves. I don't know how [or if] it will have consequences for the citizens of the world. But this I do know: There is a patient waiting for Christ shown by those who keep God's commandments, who cling to righteousness in spite of the temptations to sin in this world, and who refuse to bow down or pay reverence to the god of this world because they endure, firm in their faith that Jesus is King. We will be put to the test in these Last Days, but I pray that our faith will be proven to be unwavering and true. Jesus endured for us; we must endure for Him.
Hebrews 12:3 Just consider and meditate on Him who endured from sinners such bitter hostility against Himself [consider it all in comparison with your trials], so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
talk about the hope and purpose of Jesus in all this.
