Neither of which seem to be the hallmarks of many western nations since the Soviet Union folded.Green Eyed Jinnnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367019700923216960.post-13242161733188346852013-01-14T18:39:12.613-06:002013-01-14T18:39:12.613-06:00I concur with all you have said - my thoughts are ...I concur with all you have said - my thoughts are on the people in our own land, our own caves, our own deserts ( congress ), our own political institutions who have looked the other way when the gang of nineteen were so obvious about what their intentions were prior to 911. I often look to see how frequently it is stated in the new testament ... " IT IS WRITTEN ! "... and cannot escape the feeling that the obvious is being ignored now, just as it was 2000 years ago.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367019700923216960.post-47182940989318239502013-01-14T14:37:20.124-06:002013-01-14T14:37:20.124-06:00Well, from what I read in the Daily Star article, ...Well, from what I read in the Daily Star article, the French don't have much stomach for nipping this in the bud. And if we really think that African nations are going to be strong enough on their own to fight a "well-equipped, well-armed and well-trained" Islamist army, then we might as well kiss Mali and North Africa good-bye, don't you think? This is not looking good for Africa, or the world!
Pam Kohlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00678673505358164380noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367019700923216960.post-8449713178272549652013-01-14T09:09:14.755-06:002013-01-14T09:09:14.755-06:00You have a nice mix of focus between local and int...You have a nice mix of focus between local and international events/issues.
Mali is indeed something to worry about. They are linked to Tuareg tribal rebels that operate in the ungoverned areas along the Algerian/Malian/Chadian/Libyan internal region of northern Africa. There are also links to the Boko Haram islamists in Nigeria.
And...they have been unintentionally armed by NATO. Read this story: http://www.dailystar.com.lb/News/International/2013/Jan-13/202061-mali-islamists-much-stronger-than-expected-france.ashx?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter#axzz2HuuE0tho.
One of the unintended consequences of NATO's support of the Libyan rebels has been to open an access pipeline for modern weapons right to the heart of violent jihadist operations. So much for celebrating the "Arab Spring." And the same thing is happening in Syria -- we will be pushing weapons into the hands of islamists who will turn them back on us and our allies as soon as they think they can get away with it.Green Eyed Jinnnoreply@blogger.com
