He's all about intimacy and experiencing Him. And, yes, you are absolutely right -- it is all about experiencing Jesus to the fullest, which involves a process and journey of experience and heart knowledge, not just head knowledge. Isn't it beyond words to be getting closer to Him and knowing Him better and more fully with each day that we seek Him? That should be the goal of every Believer!
Pam Kohlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00678673505358164380noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367019700923216960.post-42141723071398891932017-11-20T10:34:33.181-06:002017-11-20T10:34:33.181-06:00Thank you for this post and differentiating betwee...Thank you for this post and differentiating between Gnosis and 'Experiential Knowledge'. I'm wandering if 'gnosis' might also be more veiled in other was other than described, as some refer to themselves as 'mystics' which might or might not also be construed as a 'form of gnosis'. In regard to 'Experiential Knowledge"..one example might be..and here is your crucial statement in the writing: "

Epignosis is the complete comprehension we gain after first knowing something. It is knowing something better and more fully than I knew it before; a more exact view of a subject as I get closer to it.
In Vine's Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words, “epignosis denotes "exact or full knowledge, discernment, recognition," and is a strengthened form of gnosis, expressing a fuller or a full "knowledge," a greater participation by the "knower" in the object "known,"

Let me say, the Object Known is Christ. The Object of our faith. As written above, Experiential Knowledge refers to Spiritual Realities, as Paul wrote about, What Spiritual Realities? Having Died into the Baptism of His Death and Risen in New Life is an good example. Only if one is Born of The Faith which is in Christ Jesus...and is of and in the Self Same Spirit of Himself, can on 'Know Experientially' (by personal experience) that of what it is to die and be buried. and Rise in New Life and know they are a new creation have entered into Eternal Life. The paradox is, that one cannot Experience The Fact of Eternal Life unless they already have it! It has not been 'Experienced' through and in Him did the completed work for us"...and in that is a Deeper Knowing and Understanding of His Accomplished Fact. There is The Fact written on paper, there is the Faith the is a result of The Fact..and there is the Experience through the Self Same Faith that is testified by the Facts..that one can Known the Facts...and The Facts will set you Free. (Likewise, a more 'intense' experience can be that of the crucifixion itself, 'but few are willing to go there'..regardless for those who are in Christ...we are to 'deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Me'..where did he god? Calvary. He died for all who would believe in Him so that we can Know His Death in ourselves by 'Experience".

AGAIN: "Epignosis is the complete comprehension we gain after first knowing something. It is knowing something better and more fully than I knew it before; a more exact view of a subject as I get closer to it.
In Vine's Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words, “epignosis denotes "exact or full knowledge, discernment, recognition," and is a strengthened form of gnosis, expressing a fuller or a full "knowledge," a greater participation by the "knower" in the object "known"

And this is Eternal Life, that they Know You Father, and Jesus Christ Whom you have Sent.

Just as was defined: "It is knowing something (JESUS) better and more fully than I knew it (HIM) before; a more exact view of a subject THE CHRIST) as I get closer to it (THE LORD) (sorry made some typos up there)Stephenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01980724753973410660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367019700923216960.post-91842956485084532232017-07-16T08:15:29.209-05:002017-07-16T08:15:29.209-05:00Thank you for the response. I concur that our own ...Thank you for the response. I concur that our own insight, freedom etc can not make us believe we are greater than the creation never mind the Creator. We are but slaves or servants of both. If we cannot attend to the natural and care for it, there is no way we can even think of pleasing YHVH/YHWH.
The latest misleading concept is being created with a spark of God... And I believe it is this principle that you are warning against. We need to accept that whatever we do, achieve and even desire is permitted because YHVH has a purpose with it. We can but benefit from the results thereof.e
Another thought is those individuals making God a word from a fellow servant based on John 1. All find their routes in Gnostic principles. Not necessarily incorrect but must be aligned with the rest of the Creator's intent with mother nature and all on it for specific periods in YHVH progress in achieving His purpose...Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14953266732829989687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367019700923216960.post-60287494896065711232017-07-15T11:28:51.999-05:002017-07-15T11:28:51.999-05:00Different theories of Gnosticism have certainly ex...Different theories of Gnosticism have certainly existed throughout the centuries, and I have no problem seeing that some may be older than Christianity. The threat to me is when we start putting the achievement of knowledge by the human mind above knowing the Most High God as Creator of that ability to do so... then we run the risk of becoming our own god. That was satan's deception and threat to mankind... tempting us to have more faith in ourselves than YHWH. Pam Kohlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00678673505358164380noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367019700923216960.post-59527248618963656822017-07-14T08:49:39.592-05:002017-07-14T08:49:39.592-05:00Experiential learning refers to a cognitive cycle ...Experiential learning refers to a cognitive cycle of feeling a need, gaining knowledge and skills, applying these to experience a complete understanding of application. Just to restart the cycle again.
Now the Hebrew and Greek concept of faith rests on basically this exact principle. Knowing means nothing in its own, doing guides to appreciating the knowledge which then achieve the concept of the fullness of faith... Or as you put it experience. Faith in God I would summarize...
So it we have no need to gain knowledge or experience we cannot create faith... The question then is how and when will we feel a spiritual need to know and experience God if all is going honky dory...
Gnostism may be more than just a spiritual approach, it may be the fullness of Christ or as the Buddhist phrase it permitting the divine spark within to become the life we live...
Another reminder is that some historic religious sects claim that gnoctism is around 3000 years older than both the Hebrew and and 5000 years older than the Christian faith... Could it therefore not imply that the concept of creator or god are both first to be experienced mentally before they can manifest physically.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14953266732829989687noreply@blogger.com
