Being an atheist also involves belief ... the belief in nothing but yourself, and it as much a religion as any Christian denomination. I am willing to let them believe any way they like. Why can't they do the same for me? Ultimately, I would hope that every individual could rid themselves of all the garbage that surrounds "religion" and focus on existence of the One who created us for His glory. It's really very simple; it's just that we pollute it with visions of our own grandeur.Pam Kohlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00678673505358164380noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367019700923216960.post-60134240262743786222013-07-26T08:59:38.535-05:002013-07-26T08:59:38.535-05:00I never spent any time in a combat area on land. ...I never spent any time in a combat area on land. I spent all my sea time in submarines, so my "in depth" experience (pun intended) experience in a foxhole is limited. But...when uncontrolled "water comes into the people tank," I think the general principle applies to for us bubble-heads, too.
Once, when sailing long ago and far away, we had the unpleasant experience to be in a place where non-friendly people were systematically dropping things that went "boon" in the water. And while not quite as harrowing as "Das Boot," let's just say I don't remember ANYBODY praying to the "Anti-secular Void of Nothingness that will swallow our meaningless souls into meaningless oblivion." Actually, the only thing that even came remotely close to prayers to God during that 30-minutes-that-felt-like-30-years were a few implorements to "Mom." But I'm figuring that any of the guys who called out to their mom weren't too far away from God, either.
Like you, it never ceases to amaze me how Athiests/"Free Thinkers" spend so much time insisting their way is "right" while calling everybody else zealots for merely expressing a belief. I wish they would just lighten up, toughen up, or plain shut up. Insisting on your religious freedom and right to speak can't hold up while you deny other theirs.GreenEyedJinnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00995782316684453263noreply@blogger.com
