Thank you! Thank you! You have stated ...Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You have stated the arguments against cessationism and FOR the gospel of salvation and healing (both physically and spiritually) better than I have ever heard it! It's so nice to read someone articulate God's Truth so succinctly that it shuts down all arguments. You have done that and I will be giving you credit in a future blog post. Bless you!Pam Kohlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00678673505358164380noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367019700923216960.post-73434386607906543062016-05-31T19:56:00.731-05:002016-05-31T19:56:00.731-05:00I have never understood the logic behind cessation...I have never understood the logic behind cessationism.

Nobody can explain how it is possible that because the 'canon of scripture' was officially closed by a council of human beings, that officially the Holy Spirit is not allowed to act in the way He has acted since Genesis 1. He has been active on this Earth for millennia, now all of a sudden, he doesn't need to do anything because we all have knowledge instead.

I think that is where a lot of people get hung up. They confuse knowledge of the scriptures with the power of God. They think just knowing God's word is enough to get them through life. Paul expressly told Timothy in 2 Timothy 3 that men would grow worse and worse, having a form of godliness but denying its power. DO people actually think that living a holy life is even possible without the power of God himself?

Apparently it is easier for some to consider that God can save than to heal. Apparently the Pharisees thought the opposite when Jesus pronounced the paralytic healed AND forgiven.

Yet healing and forgiveness have always been totally entwined since Jesus first official synagogue message. HE quoted Isaiah 61 in which He was anointed to preach the gospel of salvation AND bring healing to the broken-hearted.

Psalm 103 tells us not to remember every one of God's benefits or blessings, and two of those are that He forgives ALL our sins and heals ALL of our diseases. That verse is so encouraging and comforting to me, because it tells me that as believers and sons and daughters of the Living God we are transformed into a new creation which is infilled with the same Holy Spirit which hovered over the waters in Genesis and raised Jesus Christ from the dead and is STILL able to heal, teach, cast out demons, etc.

We are not saved to sit around in church quoting scripture to each other, we are saved to get out into the world and preach the gospel and be witnesses of Jesus Christ and His death on the cross, and resurrection, of the blood which saves and the Spirit who empowers!

Hallelujah! God bless you and I am happy you have embraced the truth of the gospel.

I pray that many others in these last days recognise that we are powerless to fight the enemy on our own, but through the blood of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, we will overcome!Anna Fairgrievehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01182008510515264783noreply@blogger.com
