Israel & Hamas: History, Propaganda & The Truth

The world's media machines are working overtime to get "their truth" out about the crisis in the Gaza Strip.  Amid the recent rocket launches between the militant Palestinian group Hamas and the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), both sides of these attacks are scrambling to put forth their side to justify their actions.
For instance, the Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG) is an independent research and media organization based in Montreal, Canada, and it is their website's position that Israel’s present assault on Gaza is a continuation of their policy of incremental genocide against the occupied Palestinian people.  According to GlobalResearch the reasons for the increase in military action can be best expressed by the question "What came first?  The chicken or the egg?"
Although the current hostilities seem to have been compelled by the kidnappings and killings of three Israeli schoolboys, and then the retaliatory killings of two Palestinian youths, GlobalResearch wants you to consider that the 3 Israeli youths murders were "perhaps in reprisal for killings of Palestinian children" during a long history of Israeli "oppressive occupation."  That's one way to spin it.
The historical truth concerning this hotbed of violence is this: Palestine has always been situated at a strategic location between Egypt, Syria and Arabia, and it is the birthplace of Judaism and Christianity.  The Palestinian region has a long and tumultuous history as a crossroads for religion, culture, commerce, and politics. The region has been controlled by numerous different peoples, including Ancient Egyptians, Canaanites, Israelites, Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Ancient Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, the Sunni Arab Caliphates, the Shia Fatimid Caliphate, Crusaders, Ayyubids, Mameluks, Ottomans, the British and now, modern Israelis and Palestinians.
Boundaries of the region have changed throughout history, due to agreements between nations after various wars, and were last defined in modern times by a French-British boundary agreement (1920) and the League of Nations mandate in 1922.  Today, the region comprises the State of Israel and Palestinian territories in which the State of Palestine was declared.
So, in reality, nothing is new.... this territory has long been in dispute and its ownership has often been determined by the victors of war.  Today's conflicts can trace their roots to the aftermath of Hitler's diabolical Holocaust, and the birth of Zionism.   Of course, to many,  Zionism has become the trademark "dirty word" for any attempt by Israel to defend itself.
Originally, this term was understood as a movement for the re-establishment and (now) the development and protection of a Jewish nation in what is now Israel.   In short, it is the rebirth and renewal in the Jewish homeland established for them by Jehovah God.  In today's understanding, Zionism is often seen, by its critics, to mean it as a colonialist or racist ideology that led to the denial of rights, dispossession and expulsion of the "indigenous population of Palestine".
Those who claim that the Palestinians are innocent refugees in their own land, will side with the group Hamas, which was founded in 1987, when several Palestinians were killed in a traffic accident involving an Israeli driver, and the events that followed—a Palestinian uprising against Israel's West Bank and Gaza occupation—led to the founding of Hamas as an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood movement.   It has since developed a militant military wing, devoted to the elimination of Israel as a state.  It is this group, who has been blamed for the initial killing of the three Israeli youths.
When Israel responded with the deaths of the Palestinian youths, the rocket exchange began.  Pro-Palestinian media will accuse Israel of killing innocent Palestinian citizens, including women and children.  GlobalResearch will tell you that "Harmless and aimless rockets fired from Gaza are the Palestinians’ only way to fight back", and that Israel's aggression and military blockade are reason enough to fire upon Israel.  "Enjoying freedom of movement and peace are basic rights of all people, but if Palestinians can’t enjoy that right then neither should the Israelis."
On the other side, WorldNetDaily will tell you that the Israeli military has aborted planned missions that would have eliminated 14 of the top senior terrorists in the Gaza Strip because it would have taken too high a toll on the civilian population.  An IDF spokesperson is quoted as saying that Hamas rulers "have been using civilians as human shields and hiding command centers and rocket silos in apartments, hospitals and mosques."  If true, the high fatality rate of children and innocent Palestinians lays squarely on their shoulders.
Currently, it appears that the media senses the escalation of violence and rhetoric against the nation of Israel, and is climbing on the bandwagon to declare Israel at fault.  Peace negotiations through the tepid efforts of the U.S. are designed to provide no solutions.  As throughout its history, Israel will need to rely on their God to protect and deliver her.  Yet, much about the Jewish state mirrors our rebellion against the God of Israel.  Are they going to receive God's purifying discipline, just as we are experiencing?  And are we seeing all the nations lining up against Israel as in Ezekiel 38 and Psalm 83?
I can't answer these questions, nor can I see a way for this standoff to be peaceably and successfully refereed.  The one thing I know for sure ... the enemies of Israel are the enemies of God. Nations and individuals need to think very carefully before they align themselves with those who God would judge guilty of cursing Israel.  No amount of propaganda can change His mind.  History has proven that this was once Israel's ancient homeland, and the Bible declares that it will remain so.  That is the Truth of the entire dilemma.

Zechariah 2:8    "The Lord of heavenly forces proclaims concerning the nations plundering you: Those who strike you strike the pupil of my eye."

  1. I agree, this is the view I have of the situation also. It all seems to be aligning with Gods word. The UN is looking more and more like the "beast", rising to power, spreading its influence over the entire world via agenda 21. The whole world looks like a chess game and Jesus is about to say checkmate.

    1. Yes, the UN is indeed behind the scenes plotting the strategy. Your analogy is right on!

  2. Alliance with Zionists is the alliance with the the Devil as evidenced by their doctrines, methods and their fruits. The so called"Jews" today are not descendents of the hebrews, nor do they hold the same faith. The so called right to the land has already been fulfilled and ended with the destruction of the second temple and simultaneously Nero ended their ability to ordain high priests since.
Same powers that planted them in Palestine are the same powers attempting to destroy the core of America.
Wake up sheeple, fix your own home first and don't add more hatred against people who have been uprooted, oppressed ,massacred and are striving to just live with some freedom and dignity.

    1. It always makes me sad when hatred and political ideology overshadows God's Word. The land of Israel was promised to Abraham and his descendants "ad loam" -- forever. Obedience to the God of the Bible has always been a requirement for possessing the land, and the Jewish people have failed many times in keeping that prerequisite. Their history shows that. Even today, the nation of Israel has much to answer to their God. But Yahweh will never waver in His promise. And the Bible allows for the rights of others to dwell in the land as well. But, as usual, man's selfish desires, misplaced allegiances, and the hand of the Enemy will all work together to thwart the Word of God. No amount of hate-filled dialogue or acts of violence will change His plan.

    2. Thank you for standing on God's word and defending Israel. Too few people are willing to do so today. Most independent new sites are wickedly anti-Semitic it seems.

  3. Look, no one wants the Palestinians in their country. Jordan lost the West Bank and then kicked the remaining Palestinians out to Syria. Assad kicked them into Lebanon to be used to put pressure on Israel to return the Golan Heights. Egypt keeps a very close eye on the Palestinians in Gaza without coming out on either side hence the emergence of Hamas and its affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood.

As far as the UN is concerned it has had a presence in the Levant for 50 years with nothing to show for it but bumbling idiots. When the Temple becomes established then look out!

  4. I'm glad you're keeping an open mind, Belle. global research.ca is an excellent site; one of the few where you can find something resembling "Objective" information, without a U.S. State Department bias.
I'm finding that many fundamentalist Christians choose the simple path of cheering for anything/everything Israel (the government) does -- believing that's the course of action demanded by the Bible. They conveniently overlook the fact that Jesus would never approve of the wanton slaughter that occurred in Gaza in 2009 and is happening again today. Who are the real terrorists -- the ones lobbing useless homemade rockets over their prison walls, or the ones dropping hundreds of high-tech bombs on houses, hospitals, and infrastructure?
Seeing the carnage, increasing numbers of Israeli citizens are speaking out in support of Palestinian rights. Nobody should be forced to live in a Warsaw-like ghetto with insufficient (and bad) water, sewage problems, inadequate electricity, restricted trade/commerce, no right to travel, and (worst of all) no indication those conditions will change.
In my opinion, we need to make a distinction between governments and citizenry. Just as I can support my friends and community without endorsing the policies of the U.S. government, people should be able to support the Israeli people without approving of the Israeli government. Left alone, I think Israelis would find a way to reconcile with the people they displaced -- but that path cannot be pursued while a fearful and aggressive Likud government pushes forward with the eradication of the indigenous population. It's not easy to carve a moral path through a complex world, but when following the easy road results in death and destruction, it's worth the effort to seek the moral high ground.
I hope we we can all learn to see things from the highest possible perspective.

    1. Don, I do try to keep an open mind, but I'm afraid that I have to disagree with you on this matter. Yes, I have checked out global research.ca, but find it unabashedly anti-Semitic, so therefore it is my discernment that sees an obvious bias in their reporting. As I have stated before, I view this world from a very deliberate Biblical perspective, so I am not swayed by political or social comment. Do I agree with everything that Israel does ... absolutely not! But in this case, I refer to my Holy Scripture which proclaims that God has chosen them and this is their land. I know that doesn't jive with popular secular views, and it is hard for people to understand who dot believe in God. But I am not dissuaded by arguments of "innocent" Palestinians, or "displacement", when the governments of this wicked world set this situation in motion after WWII. I don't like to see death and destruction anymore than anyone else, but "driving the Jews into the sea" doesn't sound like the moral high ground either.

  5. As much as it pains me to see people put "Divine vengeance" ahead of human compassion (I don't think Jesus would approve of this at all) I can't do much about it, since one cannot reason with faith. For my part, I will not subsidize or support obvious genocide, no matter who is perpetrating it. I don't think any God worth worshipping will object to that.
What is particularly painful, though, is your closing regurgitation of extremist agitprop ("driving the Jews into the sea") as if it justifies apartheid and murder. Some Palestinians may voice that phrase (can you blame them after losing their homes, and sometimes family members?), but it's a laughable threat to Israel. The old "Sticks and stones" adage should remind us it's actions that count, not words. Idle threats are no excuse for barbarism. Nikita Kruschev said he would "Bury us" (and THAT threat had nuclear backing) but thankfully diplomacy and good will still existed in those days.
Please consider that what you call "Anti-semitism" may be nothing more than realism. I don't think you can quote me a single article at Global Resarch that has been critical of Jews or Judaism, only the actions taken by an abusive government.
We will watch and (I hope) learn together; let's see what happens...
Thank you for your thoughts, - Don

    1. It always amazes me how the rhetoric becomes charged whenever someone defends the Israelites. I do not see mention of God or the Bible in your comments, so I'm pretty sure that none of that history enters into your perception, so the foundation of our opinions will never coincide. That being said, I do have compassion for the Palestinian people who are being used by ideologues. I applaud the people on both sides who have been able to lay aside the hatred and co-exist ... but that doesn't fit the agenda of Hamas, does it? And I'm sorry, but I stand by my assessment of the website, and we will just have to agree to disagree. There's really nothing more to say.
