My Everyday Carry Items

I've really struggled with deciding what items are essential to keep with me, and how to manage them. I have to admit that I still haven't discovered my ideal solution, but here is an interim resolution to the problem.
I bought this little bag at Cabela's and it is designed as a carry bag.  You can wear it around your waist, attach it to a larger BOB if you're truly bugging out, or sling it over your shoulder for convenient transport.
As you can see in the video, it has a compartment designed for carrying your firearm, which in my case is a Glock 26.  The velcro straps provide easy access.  The bag also has plenty of room for extra 10-round mags, my Blackhawk holster, and a canvas belt, should I decide I want to carry on my person.  Some of the other items I make sure I have with me are my Fenix flashlight, and my Spyderco knife.  Recently, I've added my little Exotac fire-starter.
I realize these items are not everything I need in an emergency, but they are good foundational tools for solving a myriad of issues.  I actually have a larger Go Bag that is more extensive and stays in my car.  I will be featuring it in an upcoming post.
For now, this is just one of my devices to stay ready and prepared.  And I'm sure it will evolve through time, as I discover new and functional products.  Stay tuned!

Isaiah 33:6       "He will be a sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure."

    1. Thanks for stopping by! I have two Glock 19 mags with grip extensions. I keep in the glove box of the car and one if the gun in my fanny pack. I also carry two Baby Glock mags for carry, since they're not as heavy. Great question!

    2. Awesome! I lurk and listen, this isnt really for me being a knuckledragger but i'm open for learning from everyone. Thats similar to what I do. Carry a G26, spare and 2 - G17 (my secondary pistol) in my vehicle and one extra on my GMHB. Thanks for sharing, keep up the good work!

  3. They are called Surefire EP3 Sonic Defender Hearing Protection Plugs, and I purchased them at dillonprecision.com. They are a great alternative to amplified hearing protectors, and small and compact to carry with you everywhere.

  4. i love your blog and am catching up on it today- as a woman who has a CHL- dont know if you do or not- i used to carry my gun in my purse but my husband pointed out what if someone grabs my purse or carry bag- so i found a couple of good ways to carry on my person- one is inside the pants behind the back position- you have to wear a belt to support the holster but i can carry all day with an untucked blouse or a jacket depending on the weather. btw i carry a 45 kimber ultra carry so it is not a small weapon- when i wear nicer outfits i use a undershirt with a built in holster- seen here at one website- i did pay less though-http://www.kramerleather.com/productDetail.cfm?productID=65&categoryID=21-i carry my extra magazines to balance out the shirt- my son has been right next to me and didnt even see it under a white blouse. obviously i would have to do some maneuvering to get to my weapon but at least i wouldnt have to worry about anyone getting it- also by carrying my weapon on my person i dont have to worry about anyone esp. children - mine or others- getting to my purse. but this is just a comment and my humble opinion

  5. Anonymous, thank you for taking the time to pass on your experience! That's what I want for this blog--- women talking to women! And, yes, I have my CHL. It really is harder for a woman to decide how to carry. Most of us don't want to wear big, ugly blouses to hide our weapon, but your husband is right -- if it's in your purse, then it is subject to being stolen. I use a combination of methods; carrying on my person when it is convenient, in a carry bag when traveling. It is a decision that each woman has to make for herself, and you should take the time to give it serious consideration and find out what works best for you.

  6. how does the gun fit in the bag? Did it come with a holster or did you have to do an add on holster?

  7. My gun sits in it's own holster that fits snugly into one of the pockets of the bag (so it is an add-on). The bag is by Max-pedition and can be purchased on Amazon. It is perfect for carrying my gun and the other essentials I need.
