A Modern Woman's Perspective On The Kingdom of God on Earth

Acts 8:29-35

"The Spirit told Philip, 'Go to that chariot and stay near it.' Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet.  'Do you understand what you are reading?' Philip asked.  'How can I,' he said, 'unless someone explains it to me?'  So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him....... Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus."

This passage of Scripture speaks straight to my heart, on a couple of levels.  I'm going to share something with you that I have told few people.  Since a child, I have alway had a love for writing, and exercised it sporadically throughout the years.  I wrote for a local newspaper in high school, started numerous novels (and never finished them).... you know the story.  This desire was known only by me and my husband.
Then about 4 years ago, a dear friend introduced me to someone who said he had a message for me from God.  I was skeptical, and he said he didn't know if it would have any meaning for me or not, but he was there to deliver it.  The message?  "Be the pen, not the blank piece of paper."
So since that fateful day, I have written every day; written to please my Creator who gave me the gift.  I am proud to say I began a novel and am about two chapters from finishing it.  But then about a month or so ago, I felt a nudge to begin this blog.  I wanted to help women understand what we are facing and explain it in a manner that they could grasp and incorporate into their lives.  Like the eunuch, I think there are those people who are reading the countless pieces of information that are out there and are confused.  Like the eunuch, they ask, "How can I understand if no one explains it to me?"  That is one of the purposes of this blog.
But there is another reason this Scripture speaks to me.  While addressing our current situation and attempting to offer solutions and advice, I also want to express the hope and encouragement that comes with knowing Jesus Christ is my Savior.   That is also a message that I wish to share with everyone who happens upon my blog.  There is no escaping it, we are in for a battle with Evil.  But the most important thing I can share with you is that, through Jesus, we will be victorious.  I want to be as eager and willing as Philip to listen to the Spirit and impart the good news of the Gospel.  It's simple....all of us are sinners and are deserving of judgment; but Jesus came to take your place.  He took your punishment, so that through repentance and faith in Him, you can receive the unwarranted gift of Grace.  Why?  Because He loves you!  I've never been very good about advancing the Gospel, but I resolve to be more like Philip; listen to the Spirit, and go where He tells me.

Sunday is a day of worship, which I want to observe on this blog.  I hope you will take the time to read this post and reflect on what it means to you.

  2. Belinda, I so appreciate your comment! I've observed that the Sunday posts don't get viewed, but it is still important to me to express my faith, and it's nice to know you took the time to respond.

  3. Thank you, sister, for being a mighty witness. There are so many survivalblogs out there, but without Jesus, none of those skills will really matter. As the days get darker, our hope is in Christ alone.

    1. You are so right! My aim is to help those who are frightened and confused, and with practical ideas and my own thoughts of the events of the world, to help get them over the hump. BUT, ultimately, my hope is to get them to turn to Jesus, our true source of survival. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  4. Believe me, this does help. We all need the encouragement. While our living situation, income and even our food supply can be uncertain, we still have those promises that none of this can touch our souls, they are safe with Christ. I particularly appreciate it when the Christian community acknowledges that having a hard time in the world doesn't mean you are somehow out of favor. God is not an ATM dispensing whatever it is we want moment to moment, but there is always that rock solid promise that the world around us can't defeat us. When we're most confused and downhearted so often we are sent a message of hope.

    1. For just such a message of hope, please read my post from December 29th. It is evidence that God is with us and cares about this world. He has not abandoned us and is very involved with our lives. Read and be blessed.

  7. I am just now catching up on my reading, and I want to let you know how much I appreciate your postings. I think as Christians we have such a responsibility to encourage and uplift others, while at the same time being very realistic about just what and who we are facing in the coming darker days. I pray that your words will go out and spread to many people who are looking for the answer, and that they will come to understand that the answer is only found in the salvation of Christ alone. God bless you.

  8. I often struggle with how to reach ALL women, especially those who do not know the saving grace of Jesus Christ. You encourage me to keep trying. I feel like I have a bond with my fellow Christians, but don't know if I am reaching those who need to hear our message the most. I will continue to put my ideas out there and let God do the work of spreading His message.
