When you consider the state of the world, and the very real
possibilities of economic and societal collapse, you need to strip away all of
the superficial and materialistic trappings of your life and ask yourself, what
would it take for me to survive? I
suggest you start with the The Rules of Three, and decide what your REAL needs
are.
You can last 3 MINUTES without air.
You can last 3 HOURS without shelter.
You can last 3 DAYS without water.
You can last 3 WEEKS without food.
You may think none
of this pertains to you. You are quite
comfortable in your cozy little home where air, shelter, water and food
abound. You cannot foresee any
circumstances when you would ever have to worry about such circumstances. We do not live in the Third World, you say. This is the United States of America, and we
are an affluent society. I challenge you
to take this simple mental quiz…. if you
suddenly woke up one morning and life had changed dramatically; no electricity;
banks shut down (no money); grocery stores emptied of food…. what supplies or
instruments of survival would you like to have on hand?
For me, it
quickly became clear that my biggest area of concern was water. If it was a given that I wasn’t dealing with
an event such as nuclear fallout, air would be no problem. My home is safe and secure, so shelter is
available. If there’s no electricity and
it’s the middle of a cold winter, there is enough firewood to build a fire, so
I could keep warm. If it’s summer, then
I might be able to sweat off a pound or two. I have food enough in my pantry to
sustain us for a good while; and a portable outdoor cook stove, so the lack of
electricity would not be a problem there, either. So I can’t run to the local market and buy a
24-pack of bottled water…. I just turn
on the faucet, right? Wait a minute….if
you live in the city and are under the control of a Water Utility, what do you
do in the case of contamination due to a flood, or God forbid, a biological
attack on the water supply? Or if the
grid goes down for whatever reason, then all kinds of problems can ensue,
including sewage backup and disruption of services. And living in the country is no guarantee you
will have water, even if you have a well.
No electricity means the pump for your well does not work.
While you may be
able to last 3 days without water, the reality is, you start to feel the
effects of dehydration after only 12 hours.
And did you know this? Your brain
is made up of 70% water, so without this life-sustaining liquid, just how
clearly will you be thinking when it comes to solving your water-less
situation?
Let me offer you
two solutions. And they are a good thing
to have on hand, even if you’re not planning for the worst of times. Both the Berkey Water Filter System and the
AquaRain Natural Water Purifier will provide safe drinking water for your
family. Both remove 99.99% of all
pathogens, including bacteria, parasites and viruses without removing
beneficial minerals your body needs. During extensive testing, both E.Coli and
Giardia were removed to non-detectable levels. The powerful filters can purify over 3000
gallons of water before needing to be replaced, and in the meantime, the
filters can be cleaned over 100 times with a simple 3M Scotch Brite Pad.
These water filtration systems have been
engineered to provide safe drinking water from raw water sources such as rivers,
lakes, streams, creeks, ponds, wells and cisterns. We have the AquaRain system, and it is simple
and easy to clean, and provides fresh tasting water without any chemicals,
tastes or odors. And the best thing
about it? You can wean yourselves off
expensive bottled water. And if you
believe the recent reports from the Natural Resources Defense Counsel, one-third
of the 103 brands tested contained levels of contaminants, so it was an easy
decision for us.
So maybe you aren’t worried about TEOTWAWKI
(The End Of The World As We Know It), and that scenario doesn’t even register
on your reality meter. At least, before
you twist off the top of your next bottle of “Pure Spring Water”, you might
want to consider just how safe it is. The
one thing I’ve learned during these last three years of instability---take
nothing for granted. At least with my
AquaRain, I know I don’t have to worry about any hidden impurities. Remember, Water is the Elixir of Life!
Revelation 7: 17 “For the Lamb at the center of the throne
will be their shepherd; He will lead them to springs of living water, and God
will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
